Actually, not really. I ate really well today, but I didn’t overeat.
The first food function was the holiday party at my “old” office. I brought cheesecake and apple pie (store bought
)
Here’s some pictures of the spread.
There was a LOT more food that went unphotographed (the photos are thanks to Loreta b/c I was too lazy to go downstairs and get my camera). The ham, turkey, and drinks were provided, and then the sides and desserts were potluck. I arrived a little late and there wasn’t really a lot of left of the sides.
Here’s my plate.
Green beans, potato salad, scalloped potatoes, quinoa salad with peas and pecans, saffron rice, ham, turkey, cranberry sauce, and a piece of cranberry. Everything was pretty small portions so I didn’t feel stuffed at all. Plenty of room for dessert.
Brownie, pecan pie, cheesecake, and fudge.
It was a good time and I’m glad I went even if it meant I had to stay at the office until six.
Later in the afternoon I had some carrots and tea.
After work I was exhausted and just wanted a delicious dinner that I didn’t have to cook. I managed to convince the husband to take me out to The Big Easy Grill and Oyster Bar.
I had received an e-mail saying that had a $20pp 3 course menu going on and it sounded fantastic. In case you didn’t figure it out, the restaurant is New Orleans themed.
They started us out with some cornbread and butter.
Over the course of the night I ate two pieces. My appetizer was the crawfish bisque and it was really good!!
I had a glass of Reisling with my food. Josh had a Miller Light.
My entree was pecan crusted catfish with roasted corn Maque Choux & Creole Remoulade. This was also really good, though I wish the crust had been a bit more flavorful. The remoulade made up for it, though.
Josh had the Blackened Tuna over creamy grits with Creole sauce & fried okra. He raved about it.
For dessert I chose the beignets. I actually wish I had just ordered off the regular menu for an app and entree and paid a few extra dollars because I wasn’t really in a dessert mood (I had so many at lunch!) and I hated wasting it.
The dipping bowls were honey, caramel, and more powdered sugar (as if!). I ate almost one beignet, but the sugar was just too much for me to make a bigger dent than that.
Josh had the pecan pie.
Now, I’m in stretchy pants and getting ready for bed. Tomorrow I’m back at my “old” job for my official last day and then we’re heading off to Christmastown (AKA Busch Gardens).
I hope you have a wonderful night!!
