I did it!! I went ahead and ran the Law Enforcement United 5k!
I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to do it because of my back and also because it was supposed to storm and be SUPER windy, but when I woke up this morning it wasn’t raining or very windy so I decided to go ahead and JUST DO IT!
No pictures because I did this one on my own (Josh worked last night and was sleeping). But here’s the e-mail I got with my official results (click to enlarge):
According to CardioTrainer, I did 3.23 miles in 33.04 (I forgot to end the workout right away) at a 10:14 pace.
Using the chip time I was only off my PR by 13 seconds! I’m thinking of doing another 5K on April 2nd and knocking that PR out of the ball park.
I made sure to do a good 10 minutes of yoga stretching both before and after my run.
Before I left the house I had two pieces of whole wheat toast. One with almond butter and one with BB yogurt spread. I also had a glass of water.
After the race I had one of the glazed Dunkin Donuts provided. Not exactly recovery food, so when I got home I made this…
A green monster with:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 c blueberries
- spinach
- 1/4 c skim milk
- 1 TBL almond butter
- 1 scoop chocolate peanut butter swirl Spiru-tein
Now, I’m catching up on the DVR and relaxing. This evening we’re going to celebrate our cousin’s birthday with a pizza party and Alice in Wonderland. Stay tuned for a recap of yesterday!!
